CONTEST RULES FOR DODO JOKE, DODOISM AND SONG LYRICS
The Contest will take place three times a year (every 4 months) as follows: It will begin on April 1, 2008 (Dum Dum Dodo's birthday) and end on July 31, 2008; begin on August 1, 2008 and end November 29, 2008; begin on December 1, 2008 and end on March 31, 2009 and so on (“Contest Period”).
DEFINITIONS :
Dodo Joke – 50 words or less; must include the word Dodo, Dum Dum, or Dum Dum Dodo in it; and must not contain any profanity.
Dodoism – Example: “Remember that there's a Dodo in every family so if it's not one of them, then it must be you.” It can be silly, stupid, witty or humorous. It must be 50 words or less and contain no profanity. It does not necessarily have to include the word Dodo.
Song Lyrics – Must contain at least two verses (not more than four) with a repetitive chorus and the theme must be Dodo-oriented.
ELIGIBILITY:
Only residents of the 50 United States over the age of 18 can enter. You are not authorized to participate in the Contest if you are located outside the United States .
HOW TO ENTER:
To participate in the Contest, go to http://www.dumdumdodo.com . There will be three Entries on the Contest Registration Form: (1) Dodo Joke; (2) Dodoism; (3) Song Lyrics. Please indicate which one you are entering. Only one entry per category is allowed.
Your Entry must: (i) be an original work created solely by the individual listed in the registration form; and (ii) not have been previously submitted or used for any other commercial use or promotion. Entries cannot contain any trademarks or copyright material owned by a third party and you must, both at the time of entry into the Contest and at the time prizes are awarded, be the sole owner of all rights, title and interest in the entry (including copyright and moral rights).
JUDGING AND AWARDING OF PRIZE:
The Entries will be reviewed and judged by a team of Max Pax Productions, Inc. (“MPP”) staff (“Judges”). The criteria for judging of the Entries includes but is not limited to the following: humor and originality that best captures the spirit and essence of Dum Dum Dodo.
The Judges will select one winning entry and two finalist entries two (2) weeks after the ending date for submissions. Participants submitting the selected Entry will be contacted by e-mail. The decisions of the Judges shall be final and binding, and may not be challenged in any way. The winning entries will be posted on the “Dodo News” page of dumdumdodo.com. Except where prohibited, all entries are eligible to win a prize.
Song Lyric entries assign the option and all rights to MPP to consign a melody co-writer and to copyright and publish the creative work as a “song” with the Library of Congress, and to utilize said song for commercial benefit to MMP and pay a standard co-writer royalty of profits to the Lyric writer.
Any of the following events will disqualify an entrant from winning a prize and another entrant may be selected: (i) if MPP cannot contact a selected winner within 30 days of initial attempt; (ii) if any required documentation is not returned within the time specified; (iii) if any entrant does not comply with the Contest rules.
By submitting an Entry into the Contest, (i) entrants grant to MPP an irrevocable, exclusive, paid-up, worldwide license to use, reproduce, translate, communicate, distribute, edit, adapt, copy and otherwise use all or any part of the Entry for any purpose relating to the Contest, for any other advertising or promotion or commercial use for MPP, or on dumdumdodo.com or its affiliate websites; and (ii) entrants waive their moral rights, if any, in and to their Entry in favor of MPP and its assignees and licensees.
PRIZES: A $100 USD will be awarded for each Contest category: (1) Best Dodo Joke; (2) Best Dodoism; and (3) Best Dodo Song Lyrics. The winning Entry along with the winner's name will be featured on http://www.dumdumdodo.com located on the “Dodo News” page. All amounts refer to USD. Winners are responsible for any applicable federal, state, or local taxes.
GENERAL: Except where prohibited, acceptance of a prize constitutes consent to use the winner's name, likeness, comments, city of residence, and winning Entry for editorial, advertising, publicity and other commercial purposes without further compensation, in any media throughout the world in perpetuity.
MPP reserves the right to cancel, terminate, or modify the Contest for any reason without notice, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, force majeure, or technical failures of any sort. MPP also reserves the right to disqualify anyone tampering with the entry process, the operation of the website, or otherwise in violation of the rules, including if a non-compliant entry is submitted, or if participant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest or is otherwise engaging in unfair, inappropriate or objectionable practices.
Entries that are late, lost, misdirected or incomplete for any reason including the failure or malfunction of any software, hardware, browser, or network failure, malfunction, congestion, or incompatibility, will not be eligible. MPP is not responsible for any liability for injury or other damage, which may be due, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, to participation in this Contest or the awarding of the prize. MPP may not verify receipt of Entries.
Entries shall be deemed to be submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the Entry. “Authorized account holder” shall mean the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider or other organization responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Automated entries are prohibited, and any use of such automated devices will cause disqualification.
This Contest is subject to all federal, state, and local laws. It is void outside the 50 United States and where prohibited. The Contest is governed by the laws of the state of California , without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of California . All copies of Entries submitted become the property of MPP and will not be returned.
PRIVACY: Personal information will only be used to administer this Contest and otherwise as permitted or required by law and in accordance with the dumdumdodo.com “Privacy Policy”. By entering this Contest, participant agrees that his/her Entry may be posted on dumdumdodo.com, along with his/her first name and city of residence, without further notification.
